Fire Island Pines hiring restaurant staff for summer
If you’re looking for a summer gig, and you’re willing to relocate to Fire Island, New York… this could be your dream job.
As the above craigslist posting shows, the Fire Island Pines is hiring both servers and a chef/ line cook for their restaurant this summer.
To work for the Fire Island Pines, you have to relocate to the gay resort from April until October.
The job posting specifically says the Pines properties “are not interviewing bartenders at this point.” That generally happens in April, and you need to not only mix drinks but look like this:
The management may also be holding off on hiring bartenders until they determine the fate of the Pavilion. That’s the big dance club in the Pines that burned down last fall. The owners have contracted architects to rebuild it with at least a temporary building as soon as this summer.

Spring has sprung, and that puts Fire Island on the minds of many New York gays. However, following the fire in the Pines last fall, things might not be same in the summer of 2012. Although beach season is right around the corner, there hasn’t even been a ground breaking on construction to rebuild the Pavilion. That (coupled with rumors that the current owners, FIP Ventures, are trying to sell) makes the outlook for the Fire Island Pines look not-so-bright.
