Max Adler plays the character of Dave Karofsky, a football jock, who bullied Chris Colfer’s openly gay Kurt Hummell, only realizing that he is gay himself.  In the Valentine’s Day episode, Karofsky turns out to be Kurt’s secret admirer and in the winter finale, he tries to commit suicide. He is a victim of gay bullying and can not take it anymore.   This all occurs during a powerful performance of Darren Criss’ Blaine singing Young The Giant’s “Cough Syrup.”     During the episode there was a PSA for The Trevor Project featuring Daniel Radcliffe and according to Entertainment Weekly, it led to record numbers of traffic for the LGBT suicide prevention organization’s website and phone number.
