This one-man show is quite possibly the gayest show in town. Ben Rimalower, a director making his writing/performing debut with this piece, tells his own story of a gay man dealing with his estranged father – who is also gay – interspersed with Patti LuPone diva-worship. Gay, gay, gay!

Cabaret Review: Pandora Boxx
This “lady” is one of my favorite comedy queens from RuPaul’s Drag Race, and it has long been clear that she’s always an audience favorite. Her current show at the Laurie Beechman Theatre, Lick This Boxx is mostly stories of Ms. Boxx’s drag life, up to and including her time on Drag Race. Pandora delivers these tales with the offhanded ease of girlfriends exchanging gossip. Behind that nonchalance, however, is a steel-sharp sense of comic timing, and that’s what really makes her the rising star she is.
Theatre Review: “I’ll Eat You Last”
What a great way to end the Broadway season! I’m definitely a fan of Bette Midler, and, somewhat more randomly, a fan of the real-life woman she’s portraying, Sue Mengers, the first female Hollywood superagent, who dominated the town during the wild and woolly 1970s. So I had a great time simply being in the presence of Midler and Mengers, as squired onto the Broadway stage by a writer and director who are among the best and brightest Broadway has to offer (John Logan and Joe Mantello, respectively).
Theatre Review: “Buyer & Cellar”
Just about everything about this show is charming. To begin with, the underlying concept: the play is indirectly about Barbra Streisand’s “elegant barn”, the main subject of her book A Passion for Design. That basement includes a street and fake “shops” to display her collections. Playwright Jonathan Tolins was so tickled by the idea of those fake shops having a real shopkeeper that he created this one-man show about “Alex More” a struggling L.A. actor who takes exactly that job.
