Despite the fact voters in North Carolina overwhelmingly voted to add amend their state constitution to ban gay marriage, the struggle took two steps forward as the two highest ranking leaders in America announced that they support marriage equality for the first time in history.

Last weekend Joe Biden made history as the highest ranking US official to endorse gay marriage. Then on Wednesday, the Vice President’s reign in that top spot ended when Barack Obama came out as a gay marriage supporter making him the first leader of the free world to do so.

MSNBC honors Obama, has call to action for GOP staffers [video]

Chris Matthews, the host of Hardball on MSNBC says he doesn’t understand how gay men and women can work for Republican candidates while hiding who they are and getting those who refuse to accept them as who are are elected to office.

In the video below, Matthew also honors Barack Obama for being the first sitting President to support gay marriage. In addition, he creates the vision of a “canyon” between the two candidates as he points out their vast differences, especially when it comes to equality for the LGBT community.

Former rival Rick Santorum endorses Mitt Romney for President

Rick Santorum is officially supporting Mitt Romney as the presumptive Republican nominee for President.  In  a letter to supporters issued late Monday night, Santorum said he met with Romney and now feels that his former opponent ”deep understanding” of what needs to be done to preserve the family as “the basic building block of our society.”

Mitt Romney racks up five more GOP primary wins, begins Obama attacks [video]

There were no surprises for Mitt Romney during Tuesday night’s primaries in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Rhode Island, New York and Connecticut.  Wins in all five states gave Romney his first chance to publicly claim the Republican nomination.
