Although the Sioux City Journal, an Iowa newspaper, has run front-page editorials in the past, it has never been the entire page. This changed Sunday when it devoted the front page to an anti-bullying editorial, in response to the recent suicide of 14-year-old Kenneth Weishuhn Jr.
Fourteen year old Kenneth Weishuhn Jr. came out as gay a month ago. Soon afterwards, he began being teased and bullied by his classmates at South O’Brien High School in Paullina, Iowa. A Facebook hate group against gays was created and his friends were added to it. He received death threats on his cell phone. On Sunday, the teenager couldn’t take it anymore, and took his own life.
