Will Ann Curry's departure lead to Hoda Kotb promotion, Regis and Kathie Lee reunion?

Will Regis and Kathy Lee reunite on the fourth hour of Today?

Ann Curry broke the news that she has been asked to leave her post as Today co-anchor on Thursday morning.  As we first told you in the overnight hours, after more than two decades on the show, Ann’s run as co-host will end after only one year in the top job.  From her current role on Today, Curry will move into a new position as Today show anchor-at-large and NBC News national/international correspondent.   This, however, might not be the the most shocking news on this topic.

The rumor mill is spinning that Ann’s departure could lead to a reunion between Regis Philbin and Kathie Lee Gifford, who co-hosted Live with Regis and Kathie Lee from 1988 to 2000.  GaySocialites.com spoke with a Today insider who says there is “a good chance” Regis and Kathie Lee will soon be co-hosting the fourth hour of Today.

Kathie Lee's on-air goof [video]

It may go down as one of the biggest embarrassments of live TV. Wednesday on NBC’s “Today Show”, host Kathie Lee Gifford made one big gaffe. While speaking to comedian Martin Short about his marriage to wife Nancy Dolman she asked, “And he and Nancy have got one of the greatest marriages of anybody in show business. How many years now for you guys?”

Short responded, “We… uh… married 36 years.” Why respond so awkwardly? Turns out his wife had passed away in 2010 reportedly while battling cancer with her cause of death not truly being spoken about publicly.
