Daily Dapper: The Blonds Present the New Drag Queen Barbie

In a career that has shocked and awed fashionistas everywhere, Phillipe and David Blond are no strangers to trying new adventures and going places no other designers have gone before. While most of their work has shown up on countless celebrities and in high-end window displays, they are also known to have designed and decorated more subtle pieces. Presenting the not so subtle redesigning of an American icon: Barbie!

Daily Dapper: Gurl, Where'd You Get Them Fugly Shoes?

Living in Brooklyn, one will soon find out about true thrift store couture and crude fashion violations. Topping my list this week (and it’s not even over yet) of all things blasphemous and just plain horrendous in fashion has to go to Toms Shoes which boast everything from canvas outside to a simple “cushion” sole for “comfort.” I cannot even begin to say how many people I’ve seen on the subway wearing these bastard cousins to Vans.

Daily Dapper: RuPaul, Where Do You Get Your "Man" Clothes?

I’ll fess up to it. My new obsession at the current moment is RuPaul‘s fashion choices as a “man” rather than being dressed as the fearless betch we know her to be. For decades I’ve seen constant photos and video of this deadly creature but none have completely made my eyes widen until I sat down last night to watch an episode of RuPaul’s Drag U with two friends. That mother fucker was owning was she wore; a jet black satin-esque suit with subtle medium-thick vertical straight lines throughout. I was captivated and reminded of how well dressed this business savvy queen is out of drag.

Daily Dapper: Foot Fetishism at Barneys

While visiting a friend recently at Barneys on Madison Ave, I couldn’t help but take a quick peek at their new 5th Floor Shoe Department. How couldn’t I as the windows outside are plastered in large signs declaring I had to “find the perfect pair” of new shoes. Sure, I don’t have $600 to blow in this economy on a delicious set of brand spankin’ new designer leather loafers but window shopping is normally what I do best.

For starters, the new department is given a nice welcoming feel with light wood walls with tons of glass to make sure your eyes catch everything; from what’s in front of you to “Oh, shit. What’s that in the corner?” Cruising the dozens and dozens of high-end designers, three caught my eye for better or worse. Here they are…

Jimmy Choo

The Sloane is one hell of an eye catcher as it screams subtle yet sparkles like a son of a bitch. I’m attracted to shiny objects like an infant so what can I say? Its materials are listed as coarse glitter with leather sole. “Gimme!”

Alexander McQueen

McQueen’s embroidered skull loafer is a true favorite of mine and I kept coming back to it as I insanely pondered whether I should pay the rent or buy these and live on the street. Well, if I did fall for it at least I’d be fashionable while walking the streets. Care to join me for a martini on my park bench-bed?

Prada

By now anyone who knows anything about me can tell you I’m a tacky bitch most of the time but for the life of me I don’t think I could ever stand wearing a pair of these odd looking leather numbers by Prada for the Fall 2012 season. I couldn’t even find a proper picture to display just how strange the sole looks. It jets out obnoxiously thick on the sides and is definitely a “look but not a look I would do.”

Daily Dapper: Why I Don't Buy From Topman

Of all the quickie clothing shops that dish out mass made throwaway garbage nowadays, there’s one company in particular that has become a thorn in my side. The heyday of Forever 21 being incorporated into my wardrobe is over. They have since stopped producing original blazers and now seem to be a rehash of Urban Outfitters. So they’re not even in my thoughts anymore. H&M does put out some cute stuff here and there (I have their coral red suit from this past Spring’s collection) but season after season it’s the repetitive basics that piss me off. But, I digress. Topman is the single most aggravating of these kinds of stores across the country.
