Underground Thursday: "L'amore è femmina (Out of Love)" by Nina Zilli

Tomorrow night, Friday, July 27, I will be DJing at the Lush & Lively cocktail hour at the Time Out New York Lounge at New World Stages 340 West 50th Street (between 8th & 9th Ave) from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM. The music emphasizes horns and strings, so there will be jazz (classic and “nu”), latin, international orchestral and big band pop (like this groovy Italian Eurovision entry) and – of course – lots and lots of disco. The Cosmo special is only $3 from 6:30PM to 7:00 PM, and there are $5 drink specials until 9:00 PM.

Tomorrow night, Friday, July 6, I will be DJing at the Lush & Lively cocktail hour at the Time Out New York Lounge at New World Stages 340 West 50th Street (between 8th & 9th Ave) from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. I would love to see you all there, especially if you can dance like the guy after the jump!

MEGA Underground Thursday: "Major" by The Asteroids Galaxy Tour, Lush & Lively, and Jonathan Warman's musical DNA

I’ve been a bad boy, abandoning Underground Thursday for a couple of weeks. So I’m coming back with a bang, starting with “Major”, a knockout song from soulful indie pop band The Asteroids Galaxy Tour, plus a bunch more of my favorite all-time indie (and not so indie) videos. Also, tomorrow night, Friday, July 29, I will be DJing at the Lush & Lively cocktail hour at the Time Out New York Lounge at New World Stages 340 West 50th Street (between 8th & 9th Ave) from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The music emphasizes horns and strings, so there will be jazz (classic and “nu”), latin, international orchestral and big band pop  and – of course – lots and lots of disco. The Cosmo special is only $3 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and there are $5 drink specials until 9:00 PM.

A whole bunch of videos after the jump.

Demanda Endorses: Welcome to your Pride!

For this gal, Pride is about friends and drinks, and drinks with friends. I’ll go anywhere for these said drinks with friends, and have spent past Prides in some very interesting places. Last year I made no plans and had not a clue how I was going to spend Pride Sunday. I woke up in a stupor at a stranger’s apartment in Hell’s Kitchen Sunday morning after a wild romp the night before at Vlada. We took a cab to my place so I could change outfits and touch up my face. (Yes, I often need little touch ups.) Our initial plan was to go somewhere and watch the Parade, however, before I knew it, my apartment was full of drag queens and club kids and one King Ralphy who invited us to a Pride party he was hosting at Midtown Loft and Terrace. It’s around the block from my place and on a rooftop on a gorgeous summer day in Manhattan? Sign me up!

New York City gets geared up for Gay Pride

Gay Pride New York City 2012

Millions will line the streets along Fifth Avenue in Manhattan on Sunday to celebrate gay pride.  This year’s Heritage of Pride March will be lead by singer Cyndi Lauper, Kiehls President Chris Salgardo as well as women’s rights activists Phyllis Siegel and Connie Copelov who will serve as grand marshalls.

The parade, however, is just one of many events set to take place as the weekend kicks off this year’s Pride celebration.  Nightclubs are expected to be packed and areas such as Christopher Street, Eighth Avenue in Chelsea and other locations throughout the city rich in LGBT heritage will also be hot spots for locals and tourists alike.
