
Something new? Yes, please! And it’s lowbrow too? I’m dripping. A little lowbrow is good for the soul, and anything that combines the the underground, the art scene and a party makes Demanda one happy little freak.
More than an art show, more than a party and more than just the same old scene, Something New is a monthly creative showcase curated by fringe art-happening mavens The Lowbrow Society for the Arts, a NYC-based art collective aimed at experimenting the way the public interacts with art. The group, which brought us the smutalicious Gowanus Art Fair earlier this year, are New York City’s best underground creators and promise “a night of non-stop inspiration.”
Now if there’s one thing Demanda can smell, it’s a good event. We can all agree on that, yes? The introductory Something New event is called Dress Up/Get Down. These just happen to be two skills highlighted on my résumé. So, I can tell you that this ain’t gonna be just no fashion show, yo. This will be a show about fashion, and I cannot wait to see what all the fantastical creatures of the evening dangle from their bodies.
“Prepare for a night that explores the other side of wearable art,” my friend Gwynn Friendly Galitzer, co-director of The Lowbrow Society and a self-described rainbow enthusiast, told madame. My slightly tainted and tipsy mind is ticking with what to wear. Besides, the only thing better than edible art is wearable art. Agreed? Agreed!
