A gay bar is supposed to be a place where members of the LGBT community get together to socialize, get away from the pressures of their everyday lives, and just be themselves. But Wang’s in Chicago see it differently. According to The Huffington Post, they ban females at their busiest hour and it is being investigated by the Department of Human Rights. Located in the gay friendly Boystown Neighborhood, Wang’s is one of several businesses under scrutiny for not accepting women. There is an irony to this because the East Lakeview neighborhood is made clear “by the slightly phallic giant rainbow pylons that line the streets” showing where all can eat, drink and be merry. A drink menu on the wall of Wang’s contains “Men Only After 11p.m.” It has made several area residents upset and angry.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel: "We shouldn't as a state discriminate"
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is pushing for the Marriage Fairness Act, a bill that would legalize same-sex marriages in the state of Illinois despite the uncertainty of Illinois Governor Pat Quinn. Speaking to the Chicago-Sun Times earlier today, Emanuel said that “when you have two loving adults, that should be held up as a positive — whether it’s male-female, or, in this case, female-female or male-male, that’s proper.
