Gay teen suing Indiana School System after being bullied leads to expulsion

Gay Teen Sues Indiana School System Over BullyingAn openly gay Indiana high school student is suing the school district after he was expelled from school earlier this year for carrying a stun gun to school to defend himself against bullies.

Darnell “Dynasty” Young and his mother, Chelisa Grimes, filed a lawsuit against Indianapolis Public Schools, seeking unspecified damages that says the 17 year old young man was the victim of “relentless, severe harassment” that the staff at Arsenal Tech High School in Indianapolis did nothing about.

Young was evidently expelled for firing off a stun gun on school grounds.  In May, GaySocialites.com  reported that Dynasty had taken the stun gun to school but claimed he “didn’t use it on nobody.” He said his mother gave it to him, and he carried it around for weeks before he needed to use it.  He said that  six students surrounded him, called him names, cursed and threatened to beat him up.   That’s what he pulled the stun gun from his bag and fired it into the air causing his attackers to run.

Young was expelled by the arbitrator overseeing his hearing since he fired a stun gun on school grounds.  He was original kicked out of school until January 2013. The district later reduced the penalty so Dynasty could start the fall semester, but said he would have to go to an alternative school.

Invite to event on Facebook

A young man’s birthday celebration was suddenly cut short when he was attacked by a group of thugs while trying to find the location of the local gay bar.

The 22 year old man told cops he asked a patron at the Missoula Club for directions ro a nearby gay bar when he was lured outside where he was beaten by three other patrons at the nightclub.   The man, who is being identified as “Joseph,” said one of the men asked him to join them outside for a cigarette.  It was then that the man started calling him a faggot before attacking him.  Then two other men joined in.

Missoulian reports that an event is scheduled to take place on August 31st called “Proposition Gay Downtown Missoula Pub Crawl.”  According to an invite posted on Facebook,   “We are encouraging gay, lesbian, transgender, bisexual people (and their straight friends) to show up en masse at any and all Missoula downtown bars on Friday, August 31, to raise awareness while having a rockin’ good time!” the publication cites the group’s Facebook post as saying.

Cops say Joseph reported the attack a few hours after it happened,  and they are investigating the crime as a misdemeanor.

Yotel responds to Gay Bashing Allegations

After reporting that a bias attack took place over the weekend at a bar located inside YOTEL New York, GaySocialites.com spoke exclusively with a representative authorized to speak on behalf of the hotel who said his organization is committed to supporting the LGBT community, especially considering that many members of his organization fit into that demographic.

Although Geoffrey Mills, Yotel’s Managing Director, wasn’t present when the incident occurred, he was briefed on the sequence of events by reviewing the surveillance video shot on cameras placed throughout the bar and taking testimony from staff members working that night.  He also said he has been in contact with those involved in the incident to gather their side of the story and regain their loyalty as customers.

Mills, however, admits the incident didn’t exactly unfold without flaws.

“I think mistakes were made by several people,” he said.
