Underground Thursday: "L'amore è femmina (Out of Love)" by Nina Zilli

Tomorrow night, Friday, July 27, I will be DJing at the Lush & Lively cocktail hour at the Time Out New York Lounge at New World Stages 340 West 50th Street (between 8th & 9th Ave) from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM. The music emphasizes horns and strings, so there will be jazz (classic and “nu”), latin, international orchestral and big band pop (like this groovy Italian Eurovision entry) and – of course – lots and lots of disco. The Cosmo special is only $3 from 6:30PM to 7:00 PM, and there are $5 drink specials until 9:00 PM.

Daily Dapper: Dorothy Bishop Heats Up Bon Soir

Monday evening saw Spin Cycle launch their new weekly event which features a new entertainer and performer taking the stage cabaret-style at Pink Elephant. The venue (blink and you missed it from the outside) gives off a vibe of elegance and downright insanity as guests walk down a dimly lit staircase into a medium sized room and immediately met with a psychedelic overload visually. Think gay funhouse hall of mirrors. Rightfully fitting as this is the house where Billie Holiday once OD’d, a guest informed me. Fucking fabulous!

Daily Dapper: Rufus Wainwright, Epiphany Get Paid & Danni Daniels walk into a bar…

We arrived promptly at 12:20am and immediately crossed paths with porn sensation Pierre Fitch. He was walking past The Cock when we exited our cab, stopped and gave Dahling and myself one hell of a “once over” and continued on his merry homo way.

"City Nights" – Glitz & Glamour at Night of a Thousand Gowns

It may very well be the most over-the-top event with a wee touch of extravagance when it comes to gay events. And that’s just the start of it. Saturday night saw the Imperial Court of New York throw its annual gala, Night of a Thousand Gowns, with the departing Emperor XX Vanity Society and Express XXV Pepperica Swirl crowning the new heads of state Ritz Kraka and Witti Repartee at the stroke of midnight. "City Nights" – Rock Your Ass Off @ 'Generation Wild'

The coming change in season brings the desire to experience new things. Well, for me at least. And it’s technically spring already so get over it. Thursdays may be dragging a bit here and there so why not pop your head in to Hotel Chantelle one evening? At first glance the place appears to look like an old bombed out bunker but fear not. Once inside you are immediately hit with the bass of Rock N’ Roll emanating from the DJ booth thanks to legendary promoter and singer Michael T. Welcome to Generation Wild!
