When I first saw wrongly-maligned Broadway Little Mermaid, I thought “what is everybody complaining about? This is solid musical theater entertainment.” It’s not visionary, not earth-shattering, just a tuneful love story that should thoroughly entertain the kiddies and divert the adults.
As GaySocialites.com reported earlier this week; Anthony Weiner, a former Congressman who was forced to resign following a scandal in which he texted and Tweeted inappropriate photos of himself to various women and the world, is running for Mayor of New York City.
It is highly unlikely that Weiner can pull off a win, but he has rattled the race creating nothing but trouble for the Democratic party.
This “lady” is one of my favorite comedy queens from RuPaul’s Drag Race, and it has long been clear that she’s always an audience favorite. Her current show at the Laurie Beechman Theatre, Lick This Boxx is mostly stories of Ms. Boxx’s drag life, up to and including her time on Drag Race. Pandora delivers these tales with the offhanded ease of girlfriends exchanging gossip. Behind that nonchalance, however, is a steel-sharp sense of comic timing, and that’s what really makes her the rising star she is.
Colin Quinn is one of the better comics doing political satire – he communicates highly complicated ideas through the most mundane and absurdly funny examples. I thoroughly enjoyed his Broadway hit Long Story Short, which told the history of the world, brought wittily down to a comprehensible human scale.
