Gail Brewer elected Manattan Borough President

Gale Brewer won the Democratic Primary for Manhattan Borough President on Tuesday, and has essentially been elected to that seat since she has no Republican challenger in November’s General Election.

Brewer, who served as a councilmember for the Upper West Side’s council district 6, came out ahead of Council member Jessica Lappin, former community board 1 chair Julie Menin, and Council member Robert Jackson.

It was a very tight race with Brewer had 35 percent of the vote followed by Lappin who had 25 percent; Jackson who earned 20 percent, and Menin finished last with 18 percent.
