Sandy wipes through Manhattan, Tri-State area

Manhattan flooding from Sandy

The FDR drive is completely underwater on Manhattan’s Upper East Side and Lower Manhattan is practically completely under water.

Hurricane Sandy made landfall on Monday evening around Atlantic City.  New York, New Jersey and Connecticut are all seeing catastrophic flooding levels.  Rescues in all three states are underway.

Although we evacuated the GaySocialites World Headquarters in Lower Manhattan, local television stations are reporting several feet of water in the Battery Park area.

As of Monday night, the majority of Manhattan was without electricity and a building in Chelsea had its facade ripped completely off.

The subway system is likely to jeopardized, but the full extent of the damage will not be able to be accessed until morning or after the water level recede a bit more.   Although the storm has not completely stopped, authorities seem to be in rescue mode.

We’ll keep you posted, and we hope that the GaySocialites in the Tri-State area are all safe.
