Only a few years ago this medium sized bar on N. 6th St in Williamsburg known as The Cove attempted to start a gay night in the heart of hipster heaven which played well with the all-too-willing local crowd despite its life being cut too short and way too soon. Now, the owners of the gin joint are officially launching the place with a brand-spanking new name and a long list of younger, local Brooklyn talents ranging from drag queens, bands, DJs, and bartenders.
In recent weeks I’ve popped my head in at TNT (This N’ That) during Merrie Cherry’s Tuesday Game Show where she enthusiastically screamed out trivia questions to a mixed crowd of all types giving them the chance to win booze and other assorted shit. This past Saturday’s crowd was a total turn out for Jonathan and BPro’s second time DJing for nearly 6 hours.
The bartenders and entertainers all flash smiles to attendees whether new comers or recent regulars. For this upcoming Saturday night the new found homo hideaway is officially outing itself with performances by Jenna Tonic, Jonathan & BPro, and Krystal Something-Something. I rarely endorse such events before they happen but, from what was witnessed the past few weeks, Williamsburg is in for quite a new nightlife treat.
