Two Republican New York State Senators who backed gay marriage in last years vote might have been stabbed in the back by their own Grand Ole Party and remain in races that are too close to call.
According to unofficial results compiled by The Associated Press, Sen. Stephen Saland of Poughkeepsie, who cast the deciding vote for gay marriage, is barely leading Neil DiCarlo.
Sen. Roy McDonald is slightly ahead of Kathleen Marchione.
It will all come down to the absentee ballots. According to analysts, however, as incumbents Saland and McDonald are likely at an advantage when it comes to votes cast by those who weren’t in town on election day.
