The latest Quinnipiac University poll shows that New Yorkers love Governor Andrew Cuomo, but they like Secretary of State Hillary Clinton even more.
So what if, Hillary Clinton and Andrew Cuomo were in a contest to win the Democratic primary (in say, 2016). Who would New York voters pick even if it meant losing the other?
The answer seems to be clear. Most would go for Hillary Clinton. Quinnipiac released these findings:
New York State voters push Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s approval rating to a new high 73 – 16 percent, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today. But voters are not ready to think about Gov. Cuomo running for president in 2016 and say not-so-native daughter Hillary Clinton would make a better president.

Cuomo’s 69 – 19 percent approval rating just among Republicans is much better than the overall approval rating for any governor in the seven states surveyed by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University.
Only 36 percent of New York State voters want Cuomo to run for president in 2016, while 39 percent say don’t run, with 26 percent undecided. Cuomo would make a good president, voters say 40 – 30 percent, with 30 percent undecided. Secretary of State Clinton would make a good president, voters say 61 – 34 percent.
Clinton would make a better president than Cuomo, voters say 54 – 30 percent. The former first lady leads 58 – 26 percent among women and 51 – 34 percent among men. Republicans pick Cuomo 47 – 37 percent, while Clinton leads 67 – 21 percent among Democrats and 52 – 30 percent among independent voters.
Neither Clinton nor Cuomo have directly mentioned plans to run for the White House in 2016. Clinton has actually said she is “out of politics.”
