Not only has Cyndi Lauper amassed a discography that will forever be on every homosexual’s playlist, but she has also been a huge supporter of the LGBT community. She opened up the True Colors Residence in Harlem last fall, a permanent housing facility specifically for LGBT youth between the ages of 18 to 24 and the first of its kind in New York State. She also founded the Give a Damn Campaign, an effort to educate heterosexuals about the issue of youth homelessness. Oh, and did we mention she will be celebrating her birthday by serving as a grand marshal in the LGBT Pride March on Sunday?
“I look forward to marching down 5th Avenue arm and arm with my brothers and sisters in the LGBT community as we let the world know that we will not rest until equality for all becomes a reality,” Lauper said in a press release.
