Fashion Focus : Gianni Molaro

Welcome back to FASHION FOCUS kids! This has been a long week and I have been thinking about this designer and what I wanted to say all week.  AND I’M STILL UNSURE! I’ll say this, each piece tells a story and draws you in….  Remember, one doesn’t always have to like what they see, or even understand it, especially when it comes to fashion. However, when your work is unforgettable, it speaks for itself. Let’s dive in!

THIS….. is Gianni Molaro…..   Isn’t this garment (because I have no idea what it actually is– I think it’s a dress) INCREDIBLE?!  I’d love to have and wear this but I’d have to have outstretched arms at all times to display it’s full glory.  :-)

Setting: Alta Roma fashion week, January 29, 2012…..

The Breast Dress

she comes out arms crossed only to reveal…..

…the largest single boob I’ve seen on the runway. Now let’s briefly discuss….  Aside of the obvious fashion breast-realness, The look was completed with a wide-hipped, floor-length, fishtail skirt, which curiously had a large X sewn over the crotch, and a stripy, transparent headpiece over the model’s face. Surprisingly, I love everything about the dress EXCEPT the breast. I think the dress would be just as shocking without it (and if I’d designed it I probably would have exposed the model’s real breasts and left everything else the same). I love the headpiece and hair and the sleeves are definitely my favorite.

The Umbrella Dress

joined with sunglasses, face adornments, long gloves, and coquettish/slightly sad facial expressions, this dress is one that I LOVE. Who can wear this anywhere without hurting someone? Let’s move in closer and get some details on why I love this look so much…

don’t cry baby… you look gorgeous!

tease tease TEASE! The hair is GREAT!!!   #GetInspired!

The Multiple-faced Heart

Absolutely amazing…..  I can see any one of the fiercest kids in nightlife bravely serving this look! (and fierce is not one of my regular words). My imagination goes wild when looking at this dress… We all have fragile hearts. We all see things through different faces/lenses. We have all had the feeling of having to glue our hearts back together….  I’m all about this look!

Gianni’s Eurozone Crisis dress

“The piece de resistance was an homage, of sorts, to the Eurozone crisis. The pale, yellow dress had with cut-away panels on the bodice and currency-style line charts at the bottom of the skirt. ‘Spread’ and ‘BTP’ were also emblazoned on the floor-length gown – in reference to the dangerous gap between Italian government bonds and German bonds.”

My favorite part of this dress is the blue light in the hair…. As a garment, kind of lackluster, in my opinion. However, this dress comes with a heavy message that is very important to those involved in the Eurozone crisis!

Hearts, Feathers, and a BIKE WHEEL?!

Now this look is all over the place for me…..  Love the gold feathers, Love the hearts as a backdrop, Love the color….. That being said. I do not like this dress. That’s all I have to say….. To each his/her own!

(and since we’re talking about dresses I don’t like, let’s just get these out of the way…. I dislike the first 2, and the second 2 I like and actually DO find wearable…  and that’s all I’ll say about them)

Spiky Yellow Shoulders and other more “wearable” pieces

(Molaro is all about the right shoulder, it seems)

Now I have no idea WHAT to call this, but I LOVE IT!!!!

and one ALWAYS loves a good reveal!!

SUPERB!!  I love everything about this! (I want to recreate a Ricky version of that hair!!! (I don’t think I have to breasts to carry the rest! hehehe)

Before I share with you the last piece of this show (well, the last one I chose), I want to add a few of Molaro’s older pieces, including a tribute to the September 11th attacks if you look closely.

Back to Alta Roma Fashion Week 2012….

Hanging from a Bellhop trolley, Playing an electric violin

It’s about the idea! FAB…..   Dress, meh!  But the idea, SUPREME!!

—————————————————————————————————-

Who can ever go inside the mind of a designer? Who will ever understand those that step so far off the grid that they’re in limbo and making us all scratch our heads with invisible question marks floating about….  Gianni Molaro, thank you for sharing your visions with FASHION FOCUS! I’m sure jaws have dropped….

*Look how you want to F E E L!*

Until Next Time….. Keep it FOCUSED!
