We can all finally sleep safely again now that Luka Magnotta, the 29-year-old Canadian adult film actor charged with gruesomely murdering and dismembering a man, has been arrested.
Kadir Anlayisli, 42, says he read a newspaper story about the murder and recognized Magnotta sitting in an internet cafe reading story about himself. He quickly alerted authorities and Magnotta was apprehended.
“A civilian spotted Magnotta and stopped a police patrol on the street,” a Berlin police spokesperson told reporters. “He tried to give a false name. When he realized that he couldn’t escape the situation, he said ‘you’ve got me.’ The policemen identified Magnotta and arrested him without resistance.” The manhunt, which only lasted a few days, sent police from Montreal to Paris to finally Berlin.
Magnotta is charged with the murder and dismemberment of now identified Lin Jun, a 33-year-old Chinese exchange student studying at Montreal’s Concordia University. Jun was last seen on May 24th, but family members did not report him missing until last Tuesday. Body parts had turned up at several political offices throughout Ottawa.
Claiming in several emails that “once you kill, and taste blood, its impossible to stop” and “kiling is different than smoking … with smoking you can actually quit,” this obviously allows us all to take a slight sigh of relief.
