Queen Latifah is a rapper, actress, Cover Girl model, writer, producer… but is she also now an openly gay woman. It seems to depend on who you ask. After years of speculation that she is a lesbian, Latifah headlined her first ever gay pride celebration over the weekend in Long Beach, California. The big question is whether or not the larger-than-life rapper used this chance to set the record straight about her own sexual orientation.
Many wondered if Queen Latifah might use this opportunity in Long Beach to come out among others just like her. .. and she may have. Choosing her words wisely, Latifah told the crowd: “I’ve been waiting to do this for a long time!” She also told the LGBT audience that she proud to be among “her people.”
Latifah and her long-term personal trainer, Jeanette Jenkins, parted ways last year. However, it was pretty much assumed that the two women were romantically involved after photos of them snuggling up on a boating trip surfaced. If the women didn’t have a more intimate relationship, then Latifah has every right to kick Jenkins to the curb. Most, however, probably would have done so much sooner. Latifah clearly didn’t benefit from Jeanette’s fitness expertise.
