Pictures of the Annular Eclipse

In case you missed it, here are some photos of Sunday’s Annular Eclipse.

This was the first annular eclipse visible in 18 years.  It could be seen on Sunday in Asia and parts of the Western United States.

The annular eclipse occurs when the moon rotates into a position between the sun and earth.  It is often referred to as the “ring of fire.”

Viewing parties were held in parts of the US such as Reno, Nevada and Albuquerque, New Mexico.  People in parts of Asia stopped in their tracks to take a glimpse.

Camera with special filters made for taking photographs have been sold out for weeks in anticipation of the big event.
