Quinn getting married

New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn will marry her long-time girlfriend Kim Catullo on Saturday at private venue in Manhattan.

Quinn, the first openly gay Speaker of the New York City Council, is keeping most of the details of her wedding day under wraps.  She was, however, will to reveal a few tid bits. Quinn told local news station, NY1, that while she has found the dress of her dreams; she won’t wear a veil.

Although a political heavyweight who spends her days running with the big dogs, Quinn admits that her wedding day is one thing she’s nervous About.  The Speaker admits says her biggest obstacle has been overcoming the urge to do all of the planning herself.

“I said, you’ve never really worked with me before,” Quinn recalls telling the wedding planners. “There is no room in my life I have ever walked into having left all the details to somebody else. So if you think that on this day I’m not going to be here in the middle of the afternoon with a clipboard, you are out of your mind, people.”

The guest list for the ceremony, which will take place in Chelsea, reportedly contains about 300 including bi-partisan big wigs from Mayor Mike Bloomberg to Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Quinn is serving a rare third term on the city council (due to previous term limit regulations).  She has another year to serve in her current role, but Quinn is already aiming for her next goal.  In 2013, she seems primed to become New York City’s first openly gay Mayor.  Although she hasn’t officially announced her candidacy, its no secret that she is running. Quinn has raised more money than any of the other likely candidates, and early polls show her in front of what is stacking up to be a packed field.
