I don’t know a gay man that can’t recognize when a woman is well put-together. Most of us have the ability to appreciate a well-dressed woman and apply compliments where they fit. It’s something about the combination of the carefully coiffed hair, the polished and evenly applied makeup, the attractive clothing that is also well-fitting, and the shoe that compliments everything perfectly. A big part of who I am (and a statement I plan to include in each article) is “look how you want to feel”. When a woman feels good about her appearance her entire demeanor is different. Everything about her is different and you can tell because she radiates.
I have always used fashion as a mood-altering substance. Different looks bring forth different moods. Those moods translate into the energy that we carry with us throughout each day. “It.” People like to throw this word around when referencing popular people and the trends they subscribe to. We hear phrases like “The It girl” or “The It bag” and people shape their desires based on the opinions of what others say “it” is. In my opinion, having “It” is more than being on trend, or being well-known. Personally, I have never wanted to be on trend and trendy things generally turn me off (until the trend dies, that is). The ladies I feature here are more than just good-looking women that display style. The “It” they possess goes far beyond their appearance to the inner beauty that compliment the outer layers of outer beauty. In the big scheme of things I’ve known these women for only a short time, and I know some better than others. However, they do it “right” all the time and I’d like to plant a few seeds in your soil and hopefully by the end of this piece you’ll have a better idea of what I mean by “She Does ‘It’ RIGHT!”
LEIGH
Leigh is that special kind of person that is tough and delicate simultaneously. Very intriguing and fun, she also possesses a stormy quality that is so subtly sexy. We met through a mutual friend, Richard K., and we definitely saw (and see) things eye-to-eye, despite the difference in height. J Delicate to the eye yet tough as nails, this woman has style and attitude to spare. Her eye for great fashion is razor sharp and her witty pizazz is the perfect accompaniment. She also has a flair for snagging tremendous vintage pieces that have amazed me time and again. Leigh is a woman with a vintage soul and I wouldn’t have it any other way. (We need to see each other more often girl! By the way, I saw you the other day while walking to work….we were not close to each other and both in frenzied commutes… I blew a kiss to you and hoped that you felt the momentary sweetness). Leigh,you do it RIGHT!
GISELE
Giselle is a beauty that puts me in a trance whenever I see her. Tall, slender, stylish, bold…… this beauty is intoxicating in every way. I don’t know her well at all and I’ve rarely seen her out as much as I have in the past, but she is truly in a class of her own. If I were to describe her in three words: streamline, architectural, sensual. Watching her pose as cameras flash is like a lesson in feminine sex appeal. Seeing her walk, prance, and dance through crowded dance floors is like a lesson in grace. The fact that she has been nothing but kind every time I’ve spoken to/complimented her is outstanding (because trust me, everyone is NOT nice when it comes to accepting compliments!). Gisele, it is ALWAYS nice to see you and can’t wait till the next time! You do it RIGHT!
LADEIDRE
Cute, creative, experimental, eclectic, coy, confident, magnetic……all these attributes are easily ascribed to Ladeidre. I met her at my place of employment and immediately I knew that we’d hit it off. She had an exciting hairstyle full of length, color and shaved sides. She’s also not afraid to wear makeup that is bold and bright. It’s very easy to blend in and be boring at our job and Ladeidre does not blend in at all, and I LOVE IT!!! She has a magnetism that is charming, endearing and effervescent. She is always well put-together and maintains an eclectic and experimental outlook on hair, makeup and style. We’ve only had the opportunity to spend time while at work, but at some point we’ll eventually get to socialize and I’ll get the full essence . For now, keep giving me life Ladeidre! You make my days at work more stylish and it’s good to have another fearless style victim. You do it RIGHT!
ALISON
Alison, Alison, Alison. This magical creature astounds me from alpha to omega…… her spirit, glorious. Her beauty, classic yet modern. Her style, sexy and sophisticated. Her essence, magnificence. Alison and I met and it was fireworks….we instantly LIVED for each other…and then I got into her looks. WOW! Every time I see her I have WOW moments. Devastatingly attractive, check. Overwhelmingly warm and friendly, check. Stylishly feather-clad, check, yes! Feathers are her favorite. Her feather jackets are, as they say, to die for! Her dresses cling in the most perfect way. With a smile that can brighten up any room, I could go on and on and on and on with Alison….She truly is a work of art and I am happy she made her way into my life. Thank you Alison! RACHEL
I have claimed Rachel as my big/little sister….this wild child serves artistic energy, daring choices, energetic vibes, loyal and sincere conversation, and a freedom that many could learn from. Not only is she the final subject of this week’s Fashion Focus and a great friend of mine, but she is also a pint-sized style icon whose presence is larger-than-life’s life. Don’t be fooled, though. The “looks” are but a small percentage of the large-ness that is Rachel. She has a personality that is addictive and electric! Her lust for life, style and art would make anyone want to go home and create. There is always an outrageous element to her style and it fits her personality to perfection. Thank you Rachel (because you know EXACTLY what you mean to me). You do it RIGHT!
