Thousands of New Yorkers are expected to march across the Brooklyn Bridge on Sunday to show their support for gay marriage as Marriage Equality New York holds the 7th Annual Wedding March.
The demonstration will begin with a rally in Foley Square at noon followed by a march through Lower Manhattan then across the Brooklyn Bridge.
The rally will feature remarks from Congressman Jerrold Nadler; Manhattan Borough President Scott M. Stringer, Miss New York 2010 Claire Buffie and Sonja Morgan of “The Real Housewives of New York”. After demonstrators complete the march, there are several activities planned on the Brooklyn side of the bridge including live music by DJ Pony Clement and others.
Gay couples are currently banned from marrying in New York state. The state Senate failed to pass a marriage equality bill late last year.
