New York nightlife promoter gay bashed in New Orleans during Southern Decadence festivities

New York nightlife promoter, Dougie Meyer, says he was “jumped” for being gay on Friday night while vacationing in New Orleans. Dougie, pictured on the right in the shared the news via Facebook:

“…got the living shit beat out of me tonite [sic] when 3 black men jumped me for being gay. Their exact words were “fuck you, you fucking faggot!”

As you can see from the photo to the right, he experienced several cuts and scrapes all over his body at the hands of his attackers.

Meyer is one of an estimated 120,000 gay men who are in New Orleans over Labor Day weekend for the annual “Southern Decadence” celebration which is often tagged as “gay Mardi Gras.”

Dougie is probably best known for his work with powerhouse party producer, John Blair. He is currently a member of the management team at Splash Bar New York. He was awarded the 2010 Gooth Magazine Best Promoter Award.

GaySocialites.com has a reporter in New Orleans to cover Southern Decadence. We have also reached out to Dougie and the New Orleans police department for comment.

  30. Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

  31. This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
